ENERGY STRATEGY AND SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT FOR PLANNING

Using our extensive experience for large and smaller scale commercial projects in and outside of London we can provide a robust Energy Strategy and Sustainability Statement to meet the planning requirements. The energy strategy will be supported by level 5 dynamic simulation modelling using the IES VE software. We will provide a balanced approach to meet the planning requirements whilst being cost effective. We can also help drive innovation and when this is an aspiration help to exceed planning targets.

EPC AND BUILDING REGULATION COMPLIANCE

Energy performance certificates (EPC) provided for non-domestic buildings using the level 5 Dynamic simulation methodology (DSM). This methodology will provide the most accurate results and can be beneficial to attain the best rating possible for the building. Depending on the complexity of the building it can also be a requirement to use the level 5 DSM methodology. Building Regulation UK part L report to demonstrate compliance with Part L2A and Part L2B.

We provide advice for property portfolio owners to achieve the requirements set out in MEES. We can review the portfolio and flag up which properties are required to meet the minimum EPC rating of E and which properties can be exempt. We can discuss a strategy and a timeline to assess the properties. We can also provide a quality check on properties with an existing EPC below E to establish any potential to better the rating. When properties have been reassessed and are achieving a below E rating. We can provide a recommendation report with various options to achieve the E rating. The above can also be carried out for single property owners.

BREEAM

We can provide thermal comfort, climate change adaptation analysis and Low and zero carbon technologies reports to meet the BREEAM credits requirements. We can also act as BREEAM AP assessor and, dependent on the scheme, help developments achieve up to six BREEAM credits. We will work on the development as sustainability champions and will encourage an integrated design and construction process. We will use BREEAM as a framework to establish, agree and achieve the desired level of sustainability performance for the development.

HEAT LOSS AND HEAT GAINS
Heat loss gains icon.png

In order to inform and optimise the mechanical plant sizing we can provide heat Loss and heat gains calculations. As part of this analysis, we will use the IES VE software and work on a 3D thermal model of the building. The analysis will follow the procedures laid out in the CIBSE Guide A manual and will provide with an accurate representation of the buildings thermal performance. We can also provide quality checks on existing calculations.
